CERES by MAZELIN
Today (1.9.2021) I started to put together a new traditional philately exhibition collection - Ceres by Mazelin - 1945-1947
I have long been looking for an exhibition topic where I could honor my grandfather who died in World War II. Before the war he had moved to the seashore near Kristiinankaupunki(my birth city) and had begun to build a home for his family with his own hands. He planned to support his family with the gifts of the land. But the war interrupted the construction of the house, only one room was completed. When the call to war came, his wife and three small children remained in the home of one room. My grandfather died in 1943 while serving on a deminer ship called Perch. My grandmother raised my father and her two sisters alone, working in the most diverse professions, e.g. as a butcher. We called her Super-Grandma!
What better philatelic subject to honor my grandfather and grandmother than Ceres —Goddess of agriculture and the love a mother bears for her child, and especially Ceres, designed by Mazelin, which published in honor of the end of World War II and the dawn of freedom.
My goal is to build a most complete Ceres by Mazel -exhibition collection. Target is 4-5 frames/ 32-40 A3 pages. I will post them here, one at the time, as soon as I am able to finalize them. - the collection is scheduled to be ready for exhibition before September 2022.
The 6-frames collection is now ready for exhibitions (30.8.2022).
